OneNote notebooks cannot be exported or moved because of the type of OneNote that is in use at WSU.

Save as PDF

If you do not plan to continue using OneNote, you can save individual noteas PDFs 

    • Desktop : Click File | Print or File | Save as PDF.
    • Online : Click File | Print.
    • iPad : Tap the Share icon , and then Send Copy of Page. From here, you can save it to a cloud storage application or other note-taking application. 

Move to Personal OneNote

Desktop

If you would like to continue accessing your notebooks through the OneNote application after leaving WSU, you must have a personal Office 365 account. (Details here.) Once you have your personal account set up, follow these steps to migrate your WSU notebooks:

    1. Open the OneNote application on your desktop or laptop.
    2. Select File | Open Notebook, then select Add a Place.user interface of OneNote
      1. In the popup, select OneDrive, then sign in with your personal account credentials.
      2. Once you’ve added this account, you can open an existing notebook or create a new one.
        • If creating a new notebook, make sure it’s saved to your personal OneDrive!
      3. Use the notebook switcher to return to your WSU notebook with content you would like to move.user interface of OneNote
      4. Right click on sections or individual pages, select Move to or Copy to, then select your new personal notebook.user interface of oneNote

iPad

  1. Tap the Settings icon, and then tap on the account listed at the top.
  2. Select Add Account and sign in with your personal account credentials.
  3. Once your account is added, tap the left arrow above sections to view all notebooks. Tap More Notebooks to open an existing notebook in your personal account or tap the Plus icon + in the bottom left to create a new one.
    • If creating a new notebook, make sure it’s saved to your personal OneDrive!
  4. Use the notebook switcher to navigate back to your WSU notebook with content you would like to move. Tap and hold on a section or page you’d like to move, and then select all sections or pages that should be moved.
  5. Once you’ve made your selection, tap the Move/copy button in the bottom left corner and select which option you prefer.
  6. Choose a notebook within your personal account. If moving pages, you’ll have an option to select a specific section within a notebook.

You may receive an error message if trying to move too much content at one time. If that happens, try moving fewer sections or pages at one time.
