Live Text is a helpful feature that allows you to analyze an image for text (even handwriting!) and make that text selectable or clickable. You could use Live Text to copy text in the real world and paste it into your favorite note-taking app. Through quick actions, you can also call a phone number, get directions for an address, or visit a website. It’s like magic!
Live Text is only available on iOS15 and later, and works on iPhone X and up.
- Open the Camera , and then position your device so the text appears within the camera frame.
- After the yellow frame appears around detected text, tap the Live Text button
in the bottom-right corner and select any of the following options:
- Copy: Copy text to paste into another app such as Notes.
- Select All: Select all the text within the frame.
- Look Up: Show personalized web suggestions.
- Translate: Translate text.
- Search the web: Look up the selected text on the web.
- Share: Share text using AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or other available options.
- You can also choose a quick action at the bottom of the screen to make a phone call, visit a website, start an email, convert currencies, and more.
- Tap the Live Text On button to return to Camera .
