Laptop Requirements

You are required to have a laptop for progress exams and other activities. Please review the minimum requirements below to ensure that your device meets or exceeds these requirements.

Financial aid can be used to buy a new laptop . Please reach out to Student Affairs at medicine.studentaffairs@wsu.edu for more information about funding resources. Discounts on equipment are available at WSU’s CoreTech at coretech.wsu.edu.

We recommend having a warranty for your laptop hardware.

NBME Software Requirements to Run Secure Browser

A Secure Browser is required to administer an NBME web-based exam. This application “locks down” the computer and prevents examinees from accessing other software applications during the exam. The Secure Browser will also detect any programs running on the examinee’s computer that could compromise exam content.

Your laptop must be able to pass the NBME Workstation Certification.

iPad Requirements

You are required to have an iPad for receiving Case-Based Learning content, medical education applications, and other activities. The College of Medicine provides iPads at no cost to incoming students. If a replacement iPad is needed, students must contact MedTech immediately, so we are able to enroll the new device into our mobile-device manager (MDM), which we use to distribute learning resources.
