The Basics
- Log in with your Network ID.
- Set up OKTA verify (MFA) and make sure it works.
- Location services set up: You will need this for attendance tracking of required large-group sessions.
- E.Flo MD is the College of Medicine's learning management system.
- Know where you are going and when you need to be there.
- Know which small group you belong to and where they meet.
Sync your E.Flo MD calendar with Outlook. Outlook comes with the Office 365 student license.
College departments, groups, and individuals use Slack as their instant messaging tool. Don't miss out on important information!

The college uses Zoom for screen sharing on iPads and other devices, online meetings, and synchronous remote classes.
Ensure that Zoom is installed and you're logged in via the SSO Sign In option. Use your WSU credentials to log in.
Technology at Home
This app allows you to create a tunnel to the campus network—to browse library resources as if you are on campus and should resolve most library access issues.
Prepare for Your First Days of Medical School
Get ready for your first weeks of med school by making sure you understand and can log into the following apps by the dates below.
- Adobe Acrobat
- Note-taking applications
- Office 365
- Poll Everywhere
- Books App
- PACS
You’ll use Adobe Acrobat for class materials (presentations, articles, worksheets, etc.) are delivered in PDF format, which can be dropped into note-taking applications such as OneNote and Notability.
Timing: Know where your Adobe Acrobat is on your iPad and how to use it before Introduction to Physiology, Monday, August 19. Go to E.Flo MD.

Some suggestions:
Office 365: OneNote (available through student Office license).
Notability: Fee-based app.
Goodnotes: Fee via app store.
Timing: We strongly advise students to have a note-taking app in place before Introduction to Physiology session on Monday, August 19, or at the latest by Introduction to Histology on Friday, August 23.
You will use this audience response system, in your first Biochemistry session and throughout your preclerkship classes.
Set up a user account prior to the class:
- On the Poll Everywhere website.
- Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- iPad and MacBook app stores for tablet and mobile device applications.
Timing: Prior to The Cell on Tuesday, August 20. Go to E.Flo MD.
Case-based Learning (CBL) eBook cases are pushed to your iPad before each CBL session. You will use the eBook in class.
Timing: Become familiar with the Books app on your iPad and attend Approach to CBL on Friday, August 30. Go to E.Flo MD for session dates and times.
WSU students receive a university-provided license Office 365 apps. Use your WSU email and Password to access the applications.
Timing: Download the PowerPoint application on your devices before the first Cellular Physiology session on Cellular Motility to access the in-class activity on Monday, August 26. Go to E.Flo MD.
More information will be provided as you near your Radiology: Introduction to Imaging session in October.
Timing: By October. Go to E.Flo MD for session date and time.
Study Aids: Don’t Miss out on Your Student-Licensed Tools
Amboss is a learning resource that features articles, videos, and an extensive question bank that can be used for self-assessment and college-provided mastery exams.
Virtual anatomy resource.
This study tool utilizes animation and voiceover to explain medical topics. Faculty will suggest Osmosis videos in their pre-class materials.
Study tool that employs a story-telling delivery mechanism using mnemonics.
Often used in Pharmacology sessions and referenced by faculty.
Study tool for exam preparation. Check out AMBOSS-Anki integration.
