In response to WSU customer feedback, WSU is removing the requirement for users to be signed into a Zoom account in order to join our Zoom meetings. Beginning March 14, only one of the following security measures will need to be selected when creating a meeting:
-
- Authentication (must be signed into a Zoom account)
- Passcode
- Waiting Room (If no security option is enabled, this is turned on by default.)
Edit Zoom Meeting Security Settings
Please note
You will have to edit any previously scheduled Zoom meetings to remove the Authentication requirement if you do not wish to have it selected.
- Navigate to https://wsu.zoom.us/meeting, or open the Zoom application and go to the Meetings tab.
- Find your meeting, and click Edit.
- Scroll down to the Security section, and edit your selection.
- Save the changes.
Additional Updates
- Zoom Cloud recordings will be stored for up to one year instead of 180 days.
- Zoom implemented changes for Chromebook users this year—they will now need to use the PWA Zoom app from the Google Play store. This blog post contains more details.
- Invitee status: Useful for seeing the status of invited participants and if they have joined the meeting or not for non-recurring meetings.
- Breakout Rooms can now be renamed after the breakout rooms have been opened.
