You see our names behind Slack posts, email messages, and E.Flo MD communications—but who is the Office of Technology, really? Get to know us a little more (and see which treats we prefer, if you want to bring some by).
Today we are featuring Sean Girard, who was the Office of Technology’s second employee and is the brain behind our brilliant custom learning- and curriculum-management system.
What brought you to the College of Medicine?
Story of my life. I initially planned to come to WSU Spokane to shift my career focus toward writing and communications. As it turned out, there was a need at the newly formed College of Medicine for technical staff with experience that closely matched my own. Once I learned a little more about the College and the mission, I was convinced it sounded like a great adventure!
What kind of projects are you working on?
I have been working on E.Flo MD for almost six years!
What is your secret tech tip?
In Slack, you can say /remind me (or someone else) to do THING at DATE/TIME. It’s a great way to make sure you circle back to something that you might otherwise lose track of.
How did you spend your summer days off?
I was lucky enough to spend a bunch of timing traveling and camping with my family this year, which is one of my favorite things to do. Our most recent trip was to Glacier Park , where we hiked, climbed, paddled, and biked. It was the first summer in quite a while where there was no smoke!
